Walls and Vohs Win Final Couples Play of the Season
"Oh What a Beautiful Day!" could have been sung all day long this past Sunday as over 80 players participated in the final Couples Play of the season. The air had a crisp fall-ness about it and the sun was warm all day. The course, quite lush after so much rain, was playing well. This monthly event, usually held on Saturdays, is played selected drive, alternate shot with mulligans. A wonderful dinner was provided after play. Loads of prizes were awarded in the form of golf shop merchandise credits. The full results are listed below. The Couples Play will begin again in May 2012.

Passerrello Wins By 5 Over Hofstrand
The rains held off as the players battled for the title of this year's club champion. First round leader Jon Manns fell back after an opening day of 67 with subsequent rounds of 73-72. The new Senior Champion Jan Keeney had two steady rounds of 73-74 before faltering with a final round of 83. Veteran golfer Bob Hagee shot rounds of 74-75 the first two days but fell back with an 80 today. Only Alex Hofstrand was able to remain a threat by shooting a 74 today to back up his fine 68 yesterday. Hofstrand's opening round of 77 gave Josh Passerrello the lead he needed to cruise to victory with steady rounds of 70-70-74.
In the Senior Championship and Super Senior Championship, Jan Keeney (73-74=147) won the gross division of the Senior Championship and Ed Stogoski (66-66=132) won the net division. Accomplished tournament player Bob Hagee, 67, (74-75=149) came in second gross in the Senior Championship and won the Super Seniors gross division (players aged 65 and older). Ed Stogoski won the net division of the Super Seniors.

Three-Club Event
If you had to play a round with just three clubs, which ones would you choose? That was the question answered by the players in this years three-club event. Without exception, the putter was in the bag, but other than that the clubs ran the gamete from hybrids to 3 irons to 9 irons. The final results are below:

Great Turn-Out for Couples Play
Forty-five couples filled the field for the monthly "Couples Play" held August 20 and played selected drive, alternate shot between partners. The weather was wonderful and thanks to a few nights of rain, the course looked great and played even better. Len and Pat Buerhaus shot a terrific 73 to win in the gross division and newcomers Frank Ebbert and Lize Van Wick shot 64 to win the net division. The full results are listed below. The final Couples Play of the season will be held Sunday, September 18. All couples are invited to play. These events are open to beginner and experienced players. Adult-Junior Fun for All
This year's Adult-Junior was a great success. The weather was actually comfortable during this selected drive, alternate shot event. The teams gathered for a Continental breakfast and then headed out to play nine holes. A nice fried chicken buffet greeting them upon arrival back in the clubhouse. Lots of prizes were awarded. Following these festivities, the final round of the putting contest was held. A great time was had by all. The results are below:

Approximately 30 couples participated in the latest Couples Play, a monthly event whereby couples play selected drive, alternate shot. The day was beautiful and the grass was green. Thanks to a light breeze, all were comfortable. After play, a pulled-pork bbq dinner, with lots of desserts, was enjoyed by all. Here are the full results:

Lester Varner Wins Stableford by Two
On a refreshingly cool morning (for June), players competed in the annual Stableford Event, whereby points are earned for scoring net pars, birdies and eagles. Points are taken away for shooting a bogey or worse. At the end of the eighteen holes, Lester Varner emerged victorious, beating second place finisher Dan Long by just two points. Passerrello Wins Memorial Day Match Play
Sixteen players competed for the title of Match Play Champion held over the three day long Memorial Day holiday weekend. Using their USGA handicaps, the winners from Saturday's matches went on to compete in the Championship Division while the losers dropped down to compete for the Consolation Division.
On Sunday, the winners of the morning matches took only a brief break before heading out for the afternoon matches. In the afternoon, Josh Passerrello defeated Alex Hofstrand 3&2 and 2010 Match Play Champion Guy Enfield defeated Dan Long 4&3. In the Consolation Division, Jon Manns beat Al Pollock 2 up and Lester Varner defeated Kevin Case 3 up.
On Monday morning, Josh played Guy for the title. Josh won the match 4 & 2. In the Consolation Division, Jon Manns defeated Lester Varner.
Couples Dodge the Rain to Enjoy the First Couples Play of the Season
The first monthly Couples Play of the season had a wonderful turnout, especially considering the rainy forecast and the steady mist that persisted throughout the day. After playing selected drive, alternate shot, the groups warmed up with hot tea and chocolate as they enjoyed a nice hot buffet dinner.
